RAR files contain a single file named metadata which contains file header information (including file version) and file size. The file header contains information to name, date, and size the file. RarGate saves that information into the metadata file to facilitate its own use.
RarGate will analyze the content of the archive using AES encryption and also, if configured, try to guess the password of the archive. This is a very common way of password protection, and so many RAR and ZIP archive viewers and extractors already do it. If you are going to use RarGate, RarGate will guess the password of your archive and remove the password automatically from the header of the metadata file.
RarGate is compatible with the most common RAR archives, such as standard version 3.0, 4.x, and 5.x RAR archives and also the multi-volume archives such as RAR multivolume, ZIP multivolume, and ZIP64 multivolume archives.
Since RarGate uses multiple tools to decrypt and decompress a RAR archive, it can use either external tools or a built-in tool. RarGate will automatically figure out if it can use external tools or a built-in tool, and will make the necessary changes to it to make it work.
RarGate 3.3 supports most of the features of RarGate 3.2, such as reading metadata from multi-volume archives and a few other improvements.
